📖 Keyword Density: What You Actually Need to Know

The optimal range is 0.5%–2.5%. Below 0.5% and Google may not clearly associate your content with the topic. Above 2.5% and you risk keyword stuffing penalties. For a 1,500-word article, that means 8–37 uses of your keyword.

Density is less important than placement. Where your keyword appears matters more than how often. Include it in: your H1 title, the first 100 words, at least one H2 subheading, the meta description, and naturally throughout the body.

Use semantic variations. Instead of repeating the exact keyword, use related terms and synonyms. For "keyword research", use: "find keywords", "search terms", "keyword analysis", "target keywords". Google understands these as topically related — and your content reads more naturally.

Keyword stuffing is a penalty risk. Cramming a keyword unnaturally into your content hurts user experience and triggers Google's spam filters. Write naturally first, then check density as a quality control step — not as a target to hit.
